Niko Artadi is the sole data engineer on the Revenue Operations team, responsible for supporting all of Pleo’s GTM data needs. Initially, Niko managed data manually—downloading and uploading across systems or using native app integrations. However, as Pleo grew and the volume of analytical and customer usage data increased, those manual processes led to delayed data availability and errors. 

Additionally, as a financial institution, Pleo needed to maintain tight control over data security and compliance, meaning that they walked a fine line between crafting targeted campaigns and protecting PII with granular access controls for their customers as well as Pleo’s own employees.

The need for a more sophisticated, reliable, and scalable data management solution became evident. As Niko said, “We needed something faster and more reliable that could be a cornerstone of our infrastructure as well.”

Pleo evaluated various data integration tools, ultimately selecting Census for its ability to streamline data workflows and enhance reliability across their multi-tool environment.

 

Reducing operational overhead by 15%

Niko leveraged Census to automate the flow of data from their data warehouse, Google BigQuery, to multiple critical business tools, including their CRM and customer communication platforms. This eliminated the need for manual data uploads and the maintenance of custom-built data pipelines, which were both time-consuming and costly. 

As a result, Pleo achieved a 15% reduction in operational overhead costs, translating into hundreds of thousands of euros saved annually (aka a 10x ROI on their Census contract!).

 

Real-time Customer 360 in HubSpot

Pleo customizes their HubSpot instance using Census to map out their complex relationships between product usage data, Contacts, and Companies. For example, one Contact — one real person — can have multiple roles like the admin of one company and a user of another. Niko leveraged Census’s deep integration with HubSpot Association Labels to build a true Customer 360 view and ensure that every customer receives the right communications.
